A Lancaster native, William graduated from Lancaster High School in 1966. Majoring in economics, William earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1970 from Albion College and then received his Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State Law School in 1973. In 2003, he was certified as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law by the Ohio State Bar Association Specialty Board.

 

William is a lifetime resident of Fairfield County. For over 30 years he has assisted countless area families with planning and settling their estates. Throughout his practice he has advised numerous family-owned businesses and privately-held corporations with their business matters.

William has extensive experience in the creation and management of charitable trusts and was the co-author of the Fairfield County Foundation Trust, where he has served as a director for 15 years acting as chairman of the Investment committee, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Board. Through years of financial review and oversight, William has developed investment skills that further enhance his trust management capabilities.

William has also frequently counseled individuals and large scale developers with various real estate issues, including sales, zoning, annexation, and development. He currently manages a local shopping center and several commercial properties.

 

Mr. Sitterley served as a Trustee of Ohio University Foundation in Athens, Ohio for 9 years. He has also served as a director of the Lancaster Area Chamber of Commerce and the American Red Cross. He is currently a director of the Fairfield County Foundation, and Chairman of the Real Estate Committee of the Fairfield County Bar Association. He is also an associate member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. William is a long-time member of the Fairfield County and Ohio State Bar Associations and he is currently a member of the Probate Law Committee of the Ohio Bar Association.
